Nine weeks Eli

So Elijah had his two month checkup this week.

His stats: Height -- 23, 3/4 inches
Weight -- 12 pounds, 13.8 ounces
He's in the 80th percentil for height weight and head size, which makes him unusually well-proportioned. He had to get two shots in each leg, which made him cry... and then he had another vaccine which he had to drink ~ approximately one minute before he threw up all over me. :)

two more pictures ...

#1 ~ Contrast to previous post :)
#2 ~ Eli learns a new skill ... check out the bib Steve and Jen!

Eli, eight weeks old ...

hey everyone, Eli hits thebig 2m! Although our poop superstar has been a joy this whole time, I feel like something has clicked ~ he communicates his needs fairly clearly now, can hold his head up on his own for short periods of time, enjoys extended periods of kicking around and belly-time, smiles more, likes to be cuddled more, recognizes his parents, etc. What a cutie! The transmission from our truck broke this week, and while it was being replaced he and I got a little cabin fever .... our computer is also being fixed, so there was a delay on blog update.
It's beautiful weather here, warm and green, and J has been riding his mountain bike a lot. We went picking blackberries and I made a cobbler that turned our teeth purple. In the pictures above, you'll see #1~ Eli wearing his camos, thanks to GrammyLinda, they especially show off his emerging pot belly ... #2 ~ Adoring looks at Dad ... #3~ The boys show off our new baby carrier, which Eli really likes to be in when I'm doing chores ... #4 ~ recent closeup, with hair ... #5 ~ We have to show all the moods, right? :) There are a couple more pictures to share which I'll put in the next post. He has a two-month checkup at the doctor on Monday, I'll know some of his percentiles then, I think. In the meantime, we bought a cheap bathroom scale which puts him at around 12 pounds ... double his birth weight. Crazy.

Eli goes camping!

Eli had his first camping trip this weekend, we went into the arid meadow and forest land east of Mt. Hood. It was a car camping overnighter on a warm August night and a little hike the next day ... a perfect way to begin. Good preparation for next weekend ~ Eli's first trip to the beach! He is starting to reach for things and last week he grabbed and held onto a toy for the first time. He is making all kinds of sqeaks and smiles, squiggles and jiggles all around.

Eli, six weeks old

Hi everyone, I decided to start a blog as an easier way to update everyone on Eli's growing and progress. It seems that he has quite a few fans, spread far and wide, and we want to keep everyone abreast of his development without sending huge files anymore. Also, this way you can tune in and out as you choose and self-select if you are really interested. :) We will post here at least once a week to give an update and share some photos. Feel free to bookmark our site and check in regularly! If there is specific info you want, or photos you would like to request, be sure to post a comment.

Eli has been such a good baby so far! He is sleeping well during the night and staying awake for longer and longer during the day. He has started to smile and laugh and recognizes his parents. Last week, big milestone, he flipped from his belly to his back. His hair and eyebrows are starting to grow back, and it looks blonde. He eyes have definitely settled into being brown.

He has been on lots of errands and adventures in the Portland area, and usually sleeps right through them. Jason's parents, Dave and Song were here this weekend, and spoiled us with Korean food and handmade gifts. I've attached three photos from yesterday ~ you can see Eli in one of the jackets that Song made, and Eli in his cowboy garb.
